Anti Ageing tips

Watching the years go by? That's not a very big problem for you, is it? Read our six tricks guide for a bright and young look. Only by taking care of the things below you’ll manage to remain ahead of your age!
The aging process begins when you’re 20-30 years old, which is when you need to start to take into consideration the factors which can affect your body’s balance:

1. Use UV screening cosmetic products

If you protect your skin from the sun’s rays only in the summer, when you’re sunbathing, you must know that this singular habit isn’t an effective barrier against wrinkles. Sun exposure is the main factor of skin aging. Some experts actually estimate that about 80% of aging is due to sun effects. Even more, sun exposure can cause skin cancer after the age of 50. Protection must be adapted depending on each type of skin. People with very light skin color need to use UV screening creams all year round. If you’re using these kind of products daily there’s a chance that your skin will have less wrinkles or sun-caused spots.

2. Eat fruits, vegetables and fish every day

Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables and you’ll do your skin a very big favor! Lacking vitamins is the next major cause of body deterioration. You must pay attention to your meals more often, by that meaning you have to supply it with antioxidants (vitamins A, E, C and selenium), zinc and copper. You need a daily quantity of 60 miligrams of C vitamin (about as much as an orange has). It is recommended to give up sweets, meat and fat-rich food. Don’t forget breakfast! It’s well known that even a piece of bread and butter or some cereals with milk will help your digestive system deal with the food more efficiently. Besides that, it also make you less hungry between the meals.

3. Drink more liquids!

Correct body hydration helps keep your skin young. Drink natural juices as much as possible, mineral water and tea. Avoid consuming too much black tea and coffee. In the summer your body will need up to 6 liters of fluids while in the cold season 1.5-2 liters will do the job.

4. Give up smoking

Both nicotine and alcohol “steal” the skin’s vitamins and minerals thus leaving it dehydrated and exposed to wrinkle conditions. Smoking should be definitely forbidden because it directly affects the skin, large part of the toxins being eliminated through it. These factors contribute to the whole body aging, also increasing the risks of cancer, arthritis and osteoporosis. Alcohol in moderate quantities isn’t as harmful as tobacco is, unless there’s strict recommendation against it from your doctor.

5. Take it easy!

It has been proven that chronic stress increases the aging process' speed. Don’t forget the 3 eights rule: have 8 hours of sleep, 8 hours of work and 8 hours of relaxation each day. It sounds impossible, right? Try yoga, meditation, massage or aromatherapy. You can use oils that create a peaceful sensation such as lavender. Can't get enough sleep? You should try harder, otherwise your efficiency at work will suffer, you’ll do a lot of mistakes and you'll get old quicker. Try harder to spend quality time with your friends, in a relaxing environment. Laughter has its benefits!

6. Use quality makeup

If the cosmetic products you’re using are carefully picked, they are specific to your skin type and you don'’t "forget" to remove your makeup every night, they won't harm your body. Instead, quality makeup protects the skin from harmful actions of the surrounding environment.

5 Best Bicep Exercises

While it usually takes a moment for everyone to think about what they really want to work, I know that once I hear someone call out “biceps!!” I’ll hear a lot of questions about how to tone and strengthen the arms. I’ve found that both men and women are seeking ways to build their biceps beyond the traditional moves, like bicep curls.  If you’re seeking a more creative workout that will challenge and define your biceps, read on.
1.     Bowling: With medium weights in each hand, begin with your arms at your sides, palms up, elbows slightly bent. Slowly press your arms up to shoulder height, and lower them back down to the starting position (think of the movement you would use while bowling). Remember to keep the arms as wide as your shoulders, and slightly bent. Raise and lower the weights at the same pace.

2.     Serving the Tray: Use medium-heavy free weights, one in each hand. Begin with your elbows in at your sides, arms bent at 90 degrees, palms up. Imagine holding a heavy tray stacked high with glasses. Slowly press your imaginary tray a few inches out in front of your body, keeping the elbows bent. Pause briefly, focus on the biceps, and pull the tray back in. Repeat the forwards and backwards movement, remembering to keep the elbows bent and the pace consistent.

3.     Bicep Rotations: This is a new twist on the classic bicep curl. Begin with moderate to heavy weights in each hand, arms straight down at your sides, palms up. Slowly raise the weights as you would with a bicep curl. When you get to the halfway point, rotate the weights so that your palms are facing one another as you bring the weights all the way up. Lower the weights, reversing the motion. This is a great way to work the outer and inner biceps. Remember not to use your wrists to rotate, and to focus on flexing your biceps to power this movement.

4.     Crazy 8’s: Begin with heavy weights in each hand, elbows at your sides, palms up. Raise the weights halfway up and lower down to the starting position 8 times. Next, begin with the weights at the halfway point (arms bent at 90 degrees) and raise them up towards your shoulders, lowering them only halfway down. Finish the set with full bicep curls, all the way up towards your shoulders, and all the way down towards your thighs, being aware of your pace and repeating each rep with a full range of motion.

5.     Medicine Ball Toss: Hold a medicine ball with both hands, and quickly throw the ball up and catch it for 30 second sets. Experiment with different hand placement to find which feels most comfortable for your wrists and actively engages the biceps. Tip: Try to throw the ball as high as you can with your arms slightly bent, palms up, and slowly catch and lower the ball.

Now, plastic turned into power conductor

Plastics used in insulating power cables can be made to conduct electricity with the help of a thin metal film, opening the way to plastic electronics.

Applying this technique, University of New South Wales researchers can now make cheap, strong, flexible and conductive plastic films.

Ion beam techniques are widely used in the microelectronics industry to tailor the conductivity of semiconductors such as silicon, but attempts to adapt this process to plastic films have met only with limited success since the 1980s, the journal ChemPhysChem reports.

“What the team has been able to do here is use an ion beam to tune the properties of a plastic film so that it conducts electricity like the metals used in the electrical wires themselves,” says Paul Meredith, from the University of New South Wales, who led the research.

These new materials can be easily produced with equipment commonly used in microelectronics and are vastly more tolerant of exposure to oxygen compared to standard semiconducting polymers, according to a University of New South Wales statement.

Combined, these advantages may give ion beam processed polymer films a bright future in the on-going development of soft materials for plastic electronics applications — a fusion between current and next generation technology.

Coffee bad for diabetics

Diabetics, please note -- it's time that you cut down on coffee, otherwise you might never be able to control your blood sugar levels.

A team of international researchers has carried out a study and found that diabetics who drink coffee daily increase their blood sugar levels as well as undermine efforts to bring their condition under control.

"Coffee is such a common drink in our society that we forget that it contains a very powerful drug -- caffeine. Our study suggests that one way to lower blood sugar is to simply quit drinking coffee or any other caffeinated beverages," 'The Daily Telegraph' quoted lead researcher James Lane as saying.

Lane of the Duke University Medical Centre in Durham and his fellow researchers came to the conclusion after they tracked the blood sugar levels of ten patients with diabetes.

All the participants were fitted with a tiny monitor which continuously tracked their glucose levels over a 72-hour period. The team gave them pills containing caffeine equal to around four cups of coffee on one day, and identical capsules containing a placebo on another.

All were free to eat whatever they liked. They found that when the participants consumed caffeine, their average daily sugar levels went up by eight per cent.

Caffeine also exaggerated the rise in glucose after meals, increasing by nine per cent after breakfast, 15 per cent after lunch and 26 per cent after dinner, the researchers found -- the results of which have been published in the 'Diabetes Care' journal.

"If further studies corroborate the results, there would be a case for doctors to instruct patients with diabetes to banish caffeine from their diets altogether," Lane was quoted as saying.

Justin Bieber says Lady Gaga’s style is "gross"

Teen sensation Justin Bieber has slammed Lady Gaga's weird fashion sense as "gross".

Justin Bieber says Lady Gaga’s style is "gross"

The 16-year-old pop hunk said the chart babe's weirdo wardrobe was totally lost on him.
He criticised her Grammy Awards egg outfit, which was supposed to symbolise rebirth, as "incomprehensible".
"People say it's artistic and stuff, and I'm like, 'You're an egg. I don't get it,'" The Daily Star quoted him as saying.
Bieber said he also hated Gaga's meat dress, which wowed last year's VMA Awards, adding that he was not impressed when she leaned in for a cuddle while covered in raw beef.
"She went for a hug and I was like: 'Oh, let's hold up on that. You have meat on you!' Gross," the 'Baby' singer said.
The US star panned the style of Gaga at this week's BRIT Awards, where he scooped International Breakthrough Act.

Speed Up Your BlackBerry-ing

Although most BlackBerry (BB) users will praise their BBs to the high heavens, they will also secretly admit to being very frustrated at times with the inexplicable slowdowns, hangs and overall weird behaviors that BBs seem prone to. We've thrown together a short list of tips and tweaks to help you get more out of your hardware, and yourself. The device we're using in our examples is the Curve 8520, which is probably the most popular BB out there today.

Speed up the device

(1) Space has always been a problem with older BBs. Go to Options > Status, and see the amount of free memory. Typically, this should be at least 100 MB on modern Bbs, or at least 20 MB on older ones. It's displayed in bytes, so 100 MB is displayed as 102400000 bytes.
(2) If you find that you're running out of space, go to Options > Applications, and look for third party applications that are no longer needed. Delete them. Also look for Add-ons, and delete the ones you don't need. Do not (and that's a big NOT) delete any core applications.

(3) For some reason, RIM sets Memory Cleaning in BBs to "Disabled", by default. Go to Options > Security Options> Advanced Security Options> Memory Cleaning, and change the Status to Enabled. Also set the Idle Timeout to 2 minutes. Also set the Show Icon on home Screen setting to Yes. You will now see this icon, and can manually click it to clean memory when the BB starts acting sluggish.

(4) Go to Options > Memory, and enable Compression. This may actually slow down a few things, like opening an attachment, but uses less memory, and results in a less sluggish phone.

(5) Not many people know that BBs keep an event log of almost everything - quite useless for most of us. To access this log, hold down [AI t] and type out [LGLG]. Press the menu button and select Clear Log.

(6) "Close. Seriously now, I mean CLOSE!" That's how you have to treat some apps in BBs. Instead of just navigating away from apps, press the [BB] button and select Close from the menu that pops up. This will prevent the app from just sitting in the background hogging memory.

(7) If you surf a lot on your BB, remember to periodically clear the browser cache. In the browser, press the BB button and select Options. Go to Cache Operations and delete everything.

(8) If all else fails, the three finger salute is needed. Most people will just pull out the battery and put it back in, but this is not necessary. Just hold down [Alt] + (right) [Shift] + [Del] together.

Speed up yourself

It's important to know some BB shortcuts:

(9) [Alt] + [Back Arrow] = Application switcher - good for multitaskers, and seeing what apps are running, so you can close them.

(10) [T] = Go to the top (of a page, a mail, almost anything)

(11) [B] = go to the bottom of the page

(12) [Space] = page down

(13) [Shift] + [Space] = page up

(14) Just hold down a letter for a second to capitalize it, instead of typing [Shift] + [Letter]

(15) When typing, auto-correct can be used to avoid using [AI t] + [M] to get the full stop. Just press [Space] twice instead.

(16) In the browser, when certain pages just don't display correctly, just press [Z]. Switches between column view and page view.

(17) [Alt] + [Shift] = Number lock. Good for typing numbers into an email or message.

(18) In Messages, you can quickly use some codes to see only what you need. [AIt] + [I] = incoming items only; [Alt] + [0] = outgoing; [Alt] + [P] = Phone Calls; [Alt] + [S] = SMSes.

(19) In Messages, again, use [U] to jump to oldest unread message. [N] = Next unread, [P] = Previous unread.

(20) Press and hold a letter such as [E] and then scroll up or down to see the various characters associated with that letter. For example, when typing "deja vu". No more boring Symbol menus.

Secret codes

Everyone knows *#06# to see their IMEI number, but BB has a few more tricks up their sleeves. Not very useful, these, but fun to try.

(21) Hold down [AIt], and type [NMLL]. This changes the network indicator from bars to actual decibel values.

(22) Help Me! Hold [AI t] and [Shift] and press [H].

(23) In the Address Book, hold [AI t] and type [VALD]. This validates your address book. You can also use the code [Alt] + [RBLD] to rebuild your entire address book.

(24) Want to view the source code of a web page? Hold [Alt] and type [RBVS]

(25) Add the date in a message [L] + [D] + [Space]; Add current time = [L] + [T] + [Space].

10 Ways to keep mind sharp

Based on a new series of studies, scientists have come out with ten ways to sharpen your mind. Read on and try out these 10 commandments.

Do something
Scientists are starting to think that regular aerobic exercise may be the single most important thing you can do for the long-term health of your brain. For mental fitness, aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity every other day, reports Live Science.
Eat, eat, eat
A low glycaemic diet -- high fibre, with moderate amounts of fat and protein -- is broken down more slowly in the body than high glycaemic foods, such as sweets and white starches. A steady pace of digestion in the gut gives a more reliable flow of energy to the brain, likely optimising the organ's long-term health and performance.
Watch that diet
While overindulging can make the brain sluggish and lead to long-term detriments to your brain, too few calories can also impair brain function. Many studies have linked dieting with distraction, confusion and memory impairment.
Take care of your body
Largely preventable diseases -- such as Type II diabetes, obesity and hypertension -- all affect your brain, too. System-wide health concerns have been linked to an increased risk of cognitive decline and memory impairments.
Get your beauty rest
When we rest and dream, memories are sifted through, some discarded, others consolidated and saved. When we don't sleep, a recent study found, proteins build up on synapses, possibly making it hard to think and learn new things.
Enjoy your coffee
Growing evidence suggests a caffeine habit may protect the brain. According to large longitudinal studies, two to four perk-me-ups a day may stave off normal cognitive decline and decrease the incidence of Alzheimer's by 30 to 60 per cent.
Eat fish
Some theories credit the introduction of fish into the human diet with the evolution of our tremendous cognitive prowess. Essential fatty acids, such as Omega 3s, are critical to brain function and are proving beneficial for treating such brain-sapping ailments as depression.
Chill out
Stress takes a toll on the brain by washing harmful chemicals over the hippocampus and other brain areas involved in memory. Some scientists suspect that living a balanced lifestyle and pursuing relaxing activities such as yoga, socialising and crafting may delay memory impairment by reducing stress.
Skip the supplements
Supplements have been getting a bad rap recently, with even the familiar multivitamin now looking like a waste of money -- or worse. Despite their 'natural' origins, they are not free of potential side effects, such as high blood pressure, digestion trouble, fertility problems and depression.
Tease your brain
Whether crossword puzzles, sudokus and other brain teasers actually keep your brain in shape, has not been well-established. However, lack of education is a strong predictor of cognitive decline. The more you've tried to learn, the better you'll be at mental sit-ups in old age.

Increase your internet bandwidth

Windows uses 20% of your bandwidth Here's how to Get it back?
A nice little tweak for XP. Microsoft reserve 20% of your available bandwidth for their own purposes (suspect for updates and interrogating your machine etc..)

Here's how to get it back:

Click Start-->Run-->type "gpedit.msc" without the space "
This opens the group policy editor. Then go to:

Local Computer Policy-->Computer Configuration-->Administrative Templates-->Network-->QOS  Scheduler-->Limit Reservable Bandwidth
Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth. It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the 'Explain' tab :

"By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default."
So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO.
This will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%.

I have tested on XP Pro, and 2000
Other Operating System not tested.

Please give me feedback about your results.

Social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Orkut are also included in the sidebar. You can log in to your account and at the same time continue working on other things. There are many utility functions in the Epic Browser which we liked. It has a free word processor, a to-do tool, snippet app, timer and most importantly it allows you to access your files and folder from the browser itself. It also has an application called Indic which allows you to type in many Indian languages. Hidden Reflex claims that the browser supports 12 Indian languages currently. The browser also allows you to watch videos from YouTube in a small window, so that you can browse other websites while watching videos.

Epic Web Browser is build on Mozilla Firefox and is customized for the taste of Indian users.
